The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has passed Alia Bhatt and Sharvari's spy thriller, Alpha, with a U/A 16+ certificate after making several cuts, including reducing stabbing visuals and deleting a foul word.
The makers of Alpha got a taste of reality when the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) demanded several cuts to the film. The Alia Bhatt and Sharvari starrer, directed by Shiv Rawail, had to undergo some significant changes to get a U/A 16+ certificate.
The Cuts
The CBFC's Examining Committee asked for very few modifications, but they were crucial. A scene in the first half of the film had its visuals reduced and replaced with alternative ones. Another cut was made in the second half, where multiple stabbing visuals were toned down. A foul word was also deleted in the first half.
Additionally, the makers were asked to insert anti-alcohol static in all scenes of alcohol consumption and to submit a parents' consent letter for the child artist. The film's disclaimer at the beginning was also redrafted, and subtitles were added for all songs.
The Verdict
After making these changes, the makers of Alpha were handed over the censor certificate on June 29. The film's runtime is 140.48 minutes, or 2 hours, 20 minutes, and 48 seconds. Alpha is part of the YRF Spy Universe and hits theaters on July 3.
